Volunteers wanted for Cessnock vineyard planning group
Cessnock City Council is seeking 15 people to participate in a working group to inform the newly initiated Cessnock Vineyard District Planning Project.
The aim of the project is to develop a suite of policy outcomes to maintain and protect the area’s rural zoning, while driving strong economic outcomes.
Landowners, viticulturists, wine and tourism professionals, recreation and accommodation providers are particularly sought for the group.
“The working group will attend a number of meetings and provide assistance to Council in developing local strategic planning policy that reflects the Vineyards District Community Vision,” Cessnock mayor Bob Pynsent said.
“This vision statement was established by the community and we’re looking forward to continuing working with our community towards achieving the vision.
“Our vineyard district is a national treasure attracting visitors from around the world and we must ensure local planning policies reflect our vision for the vineyards region to continue to flourish.”
Expressions of Interest are open until 5pm on March 25. For more information visit cessnock.nsw.gov.au/planning-and-development/vineyarddistrict.
