Nothing common at Morpeth Christmas
Arguably a golden age for Christmas movies, three classics from the late 80s and early 90s will be shown at Maitland’s newest outdoor cinema on Friday night.
Morpeth Common will host Christmas at the Common, screening Home Alone, The Muppet Christmas Carol and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation in three outdoor cinemas.
It will be Maitland City Council’s second foray into outdoor cinema this year, after hosting foreign films in The Levee last month.
“This is part of our After Dark program, which is about bringing activation and light to spaces that are not normally used at the time,” Council’s Place Activation Officer David Graham said.
“This is not like a regular outdoor cinema – the screens are relatively small to create an intimate, homely experience.
“People of all ages can come along and enjoy some wholesome Christmas magic.”
Festivities will begin at 7pm with a roving performer, food trucks and a visit from Santa, with the movies starting at 8pm.
The evening is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic rug or chair, and something warm.
