Mai-wel artists tackle hUGGe boot
One of Maitland’s biggest landmarks has received the flourish of Mai-Wel’s creative artists.
Mortels giant UGG boots have taken on a new design based on Mai-Wel’s mantra of diversity and inclusion, after the end of NRL season marked a makeover from the previous NSW Blues theme.
The boots weigh 600 kilograms each and are 13 times the size of a women’s Size 8.
“The opportunity to make our mark on such a unique feature and famous landmark is not only a great opportunity to showcase our work to a mass audience, it’s also been a valuable learning opportunity for our artists to experiment with different canvases,” Mai-Wel Creative Arts Facilitator Steve Burchill said.
Mai-Wel’s creative arts program see budding musicians, artists and dancers receive mentoring from industry professionals.
The UGG boots can be seen outside Mortels Sheepskin Factory on Weakleys Drive at Thornton.
