Lyn’s brave shave for Leukaemia Foundation
Lyn Twaddell wasn’t particularly concerned about losing her long hair for the World’s Greatest Shave.
“I needed the haircut anyway,” she said.
“I might as well do it properly.”
Ms Twaddell lost her locks at the Maitland Neighbourhood Centre on Friday, reaching her $350 target long before the first snip of the scissors. She has now set her sights higher, aiming for $750 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Speaking to Hunter Independent before the big shave, she said that she planned to donate her hair for wig making.
“It’s nice and long and ready to go,” she said.
“But it does go curly in the rain!”
Each Monday and Friday Ms Twaddell travels to Newcastle to receive treatment for a blood condition and the foundation provides assistance, making it a cause close to her heart.
“They help me out, so I don’t mind helping them out,” she said.
“It’s only hair – it will grow back.”
Donations can still be made at leukaemiafoundation.org.au.
