Funding to refurb Cessnock signage
Cessnock City Council has received $2.2 million from the State Government to continue its upgrade of tourist signage through Wine Country.
The grant is from the Regional Growth Environment and Tourism Fund, and will build on work last year that included new information bays, city gateway signs and directional signage.
“Tourists travelling our region and enjoying the services our tourism operators offer will have a better experience,” Cessnock mayor Bob Pynsent said.
“The signs not only look great but feature extremely valuable information about local experiences.
“This grant enables Council to roll out more signage that will help those visiting our wonderful local government area.”
It is estimated that three million people visit the region each year, at an economic value of around $500 million.
Earlier work was funded by a dollar for dollar Federal Government Building Better Regions grant.
