Bunnings redevelopment receives green light
Maitland’s Bunnings store is set to get a whole lot bigger, with Maitland City Council approving a multi-million dollar redevelopment.
More than 5200 square metres of retail space will be added to the hardware store, which includes the nursery area almost doubling to over 3000 square metres.
It will bring the total retail space to almost 18,000 square metres, which will see the single-storey warehouse expand into the existing car park area.
A new car park will be constructed on a vacant lot to the south of the existing car park with a bridge that will cross the wetland and join it to the main facility. 418 on-site car parks will be available, up from the current 288.
Additionally, a second vehicle entrance will be created on Bungaree Street.
“I think there’s a lot of people who are going to be happy to see Bunnings expand its already huge facility,” Councillor Ben Whiting said.
“Bunnings is certainly a large employer so any expansion will certainly mean more jobs and that’s never a bad thing.”
