Acclaimed chef tastes Maitland festival
Highly acclaimed chef Cory Campbell will headline this weekend’s Maitland Taste Festival as the event celebrates its 10th year.
The Newcastle-born chef has worked at Matt Moran’s Barangaroo House in Sydney, Vue de Monde in Melbourne, and the two Michelin Star Noma restaurant in Copenhagen.
With a fishmonger and pastry chef in tow, Mr Campbell will be using seafood and fresh produce to demonstrate simple things that home chefs can do to elevate their own dishes.
“I’ll be showing simple techniques that you can use at home,” he said.
“It’s taking a cooking technique to make your own.
“There’s an individuality about it.”
The Kitchen Stage will also feature local chefs Connie Griffiths of Tranquil Vale and Bryce Reynolds of COQUUN, while Megan Cooke of Garden to Table Permaculture will be hosting the Garden Stage.
The festival will hold a Wellness Space for the first time with Harry’s Yoga Studio, while the Hunter Valley Beekeepers Association will also be making their debut.
For those who have not attended Slow Food Hunter Valley’s Earth Markets, a fresh produce precinct will offer the farmgate experience.
Maitland Taste Festival will be held in The Levee from 10am to 4pm this weekend, March 9 and 10. For more information visit maitlandtaste.com.au.
